THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN (Weekly Edition)

But what is the right, what is the left

Bathing in the tub is right
Taking a shower on the other hand is left-wing
A pack of Marlboros is right
Contraband is left-wing

A nice soup is on the right
Minestrone is always left-wing
All the films they make today are right-wing
If they're boring, they're left-wing

Sneakers or tennis shoes
They still have a somewhat right-wing taste
But wear them all dirty and a little untied
It's more stupid than leftist

The blue jeans which are a sign of the left
With the jacket they go to the right
The concert in the stadium is left-wing
Prices are a little right

Tights are almost always left-wing
The garter belt is more right-wing than ever
Pissing in company is left-wing
The toilet is always at the bottom on the right

The beautiful blue and transparent swimming pool
It's clear he's a bit right-wing
While the rivers, all the lakes and even the sea
I'm more shitty than leftist

Liberal thought is right-wing
Now it's good for the left too
It is not known whether luck is on the right
Bad luck is always on the left

The vigorous closed-fist salute
It's an ancient left-wing gesture
A bit from the 1920s, a bit Roman
It's assholeish as well as right-wing

All the old moralism is left-wing
Lack of morals is on the right
Even the Pope is a bit to the left lately
It is the devil who has now gone to the right

The response of the masses is left-wing
With a slight sag on the right
I'm sure the bastard is a leftist
The son of a bitch is on the right

An emancipated woman is left-wing
Riservata is already a little more right-wing
But a hot guy is always an attraction
Which is good for left and right

"What is the right, what is the left", sang, mockingly, italian singer-songwriter, playwright, actor, cabaret artist, guitarist and theater director Giorgio Gaber in 1994.

The song focuses on the contrast between a long series of clichés - at times even improbable, ironic, or paradoxical - attributable, by stereotype, to one ideology or another. It is Gaber himself who specifies how the differences in substance between the two parts, going beyond mere appearance or folkloristic aspects, appear to have become difficult to identify.

"Com'è dolce naufragar in questo mar"

Nowadays, the question appears even more tangled. In the midst of postmodern chaos, completely adrift in the shipwreck of every cornerstone, we happen to witness scenes and scenarios that are, to say the least, unusual.

The Woke culture, the cancel culture, on the one hand, have redefined the concept of the left, a radical, authoritarian, violent, intolerant, post-feminist and post-human left, while the institutional left, fully integrated, attached to the armchairs, seems to have completely abandoned the anti-capitalist struggle.

On the other, an unseemly populist right that calls itself nationalist, sovereignist, traditionalist, ultra-capitalist, God forbid, led by techno-plutocrats, but, at the same time, incredibly liberal, in favor of pornography and prostitution - see the past of the new American president - anti-prohibitionist (?), even promoter of freedom of speech and against censorship.

In the meantime, as the natural disaster grows, neo colonialism come to power...

Dear Gaber, your verses need to be updated: "the new left is the new right and the new right is the new left".

Am I dreaming or am I awake?

We're living in a motherfucking, chemically imbalaced, upside-down world.

Confusion is the new religion.

I must've dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street

Now did you read the news today?
They say the danger's gone away
But I can see the fires still alight
They're burning into the night

There's too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go 'round
Can't you see this is a land of confusion?
This is the world we live in

The world is now on course for no less than five trillionaires by the end of the decade.

And while the super-rich continue to amass unimaginable wealth, new report for Davos 2025 shows how simultaneously the number of people living in poverty is stagnating,  virtually unchanged since 1990.
amplify the voices of those who have called for action to address this legacy of colonialism.

Today’s global economic system reflects and perpetuates inequalities that can be traced back to the colonial era, disadvantaging poorer nations and the poorest people within countries.

Key pillars of a system that is delivering enormous and ongoing transfer of wealth from the Global South to the North.

In the first quarter of 2024, central banks globally held around 58.9% of their allocated reserves in US dollars. This imbalance alone leads to a payment of almost US$1 trillion dollars a year from the Global South to the North, of which US$30 million an hour is being paid to the richest 1% in rich countries.

The institutions that govern our world The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) hold huge power of the economies of low and middle-income countries, yet the latter have little say in how they are run.

Global South countries continue to find themselves locked into export-oriented economies that depend on producing raw materials or low-cost goods for markets in the North: a system that was created by colonialism.

The IMF, the World Bank, the UN and other global institutions should completely change their governance to end the formal and informal dominance of the Global North and the interests of their wealthy elites and corporations.

Tax the richest to end extreme wealth.

Global South governments should form alliances that promote economic independence and reduce reliance on former colonial powers or Global North economies, as well as demand reforms in international institutions.

End formal colonialism in all forms

All remaining non-self-governing territories must be supported to realise their rights to equal rights and self-determination.

The destabilisation in our information system that we woke up to in 2016 has now entered a wholly dangerous new reality: the merger of Silicon Valley and an authoritarian US state.

The world has never seen power like this before. The state machinery of a global superpower allied to the power and reach of global information platforms. A restructuring of the world order and global geopolitics as we know it.

Steve Bannon who may turn out the most prescient philosopher of our era said you don’t have to prove or disprove anything, you just need to drown the zone in shit.

Truth will now be outsourced to a global community of bots and trolls, state actors and highly motivated online edgelords.

The biggest danger in the coming months and years will be the exhaustion of our critical faculties, our failure to withstand the noise, and to retreat into personal spaces.

Peter Thiel’s piece, headlined “A Time for Truth and Reconciliation” makes the case the US government and media have colluded in a system he calls the “Distributed Idea Suppression Complex”.

That is about to be smashed apart, he suggests. Information will be freed. Government files will be opened.

Michael Saylor has emerged as the public face of the recent bitcoin craze, with nearly 4 million followers on X.

To celebrate bitcoin topping $100,000, Saylor hosted a New Year’s Eve party for several hundred members of the crypto community at his waterfront, Miami-area estate, near his luxury yacht.

A half-dozen dancers dressed in gold performed. Celebrities mingled with investing luminaries, including Bill Miller, the former Legg Mason fund manager; Peter Briger, chairman of Fortress Investment Group; and Mark Casey, a key portfolio manager at Capital Group. The event was livestreamed on YouTube to tens of thousands of bitcoin fanatics as Saylor, in a black blazer and a bitcoin T-shirt, presided.

Saylor is evangelical in his belief in bitcoin. He stresses that it has limited supply, unlike the dollar or even gold. That helps bitcoin do a better job protecting against inflation, Saylor argues. He also says bitcoin’s digital nature makes it easier and cheaper for holders to store and use, avoiding the need for intermediaries and making it a “revolutionary” form of money

Saylor has proved adept at creating different kinds of equity and debt investments—rolling out bank loans, convertible bonds, common shares and more—to keep the cash faucet flowing.

“His genius is he’s creating different products for different audiences”, says Brett Messing, an executive of SkyBridge Capital.

Over the past month or so, Saylor has promoted MicroStrategy and bitcoin on television shows and high-profile podcasts, at industry conferences and elsewhere. “If you are not buying bitcoin at the top, you are leaving money on the table”, he tweeted.

The Smith’s report is a sad reminder of the futility of truth in the age of Trump and a subtle, yet still brutal, indictment of the Supreme Court’s unprecedented grant of presidential immunity.

In his letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland accompanying the report, Smith said, quoting John Adams, that the work of the special counsel here “rested upon the fundamental value of our democracy that we exist as ‘a government of laws, and not of men’”.

Smith also quoted the Supreme Court itself, from way back in 1882, when it said that “no man in this country is so high that he is above the law”.

Trump’s post-election efforts are usually expressed in broad terms like “election interference” or “overturning the election”.

Smith’s report also highlights how Trump sucked those around him into his conspiracy, rewarding those who helped further it and threatening to punish those who did not.

The story of Smith’s report is a story about the abject moral failure of the Supreme Court’s immunity decision, a gift for the ages.

Google will not comply with a forthcoming fact-checking law

The company states that it will not be adding fact checks to search results or YouTube videos and will not use fact-checking data when ranking or removing content.

Google has never really participated in fact-checking as part of its content moderation policies. The company did, however, invest in a European fact-checking database ahead of recent EU elections.

The upcoming fact-checking requirement was originally implemented by the European Commission’s new Code of Practice on Disinformation. It started as a voluntary set of “self-regulatory standards to fight disinformation” but will soon become mandatory.

Google's global affairs president Kent Walker said the fact-checking integration "simply isn't appropriate or effective for our services" in a letter to the European Commission.

Google also points to a new feature added to YouTube last year that enables certain users to add contextual notes to videos, saying that it “has significant potential”. This program is similar to X’s Community Notes and, likely, whatever fresh hell Meta is cooking up.

The annual Rosa Luxemburg march in Berlin became a platform for violence, jew-hatred, and open hostility to Western values, exposing the deeper threat posed by the “Red-Green Alliance” — an unholy collaboration between the left and Islam united by its mission to overthrow those who believe in freedom.

The march began at Frankfurter Tor in Berlin-Friedrichshain, aiming to reach the socialist memorial in Friedrichsfelde.

According to the police, this year’s march saw Israel haters among the most aggressive rioters attacking officers with flagpoles and other objects.

The chaos highlighted the growing threat posed by this coalition of radicals.

The demonstration also included calls to reject arms deliveries to Ukraine and Israel and demands to remove U.S. military assets from German soil, revealing the anti-Western sentiment at its core.

Among the participants were activists from various communist and anti-imperialist groups, including the German Communist Party (DKP), Die Linke, Socialist German Workers Youth (SDAJ), the Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany (MLPD), and Communist Aufbau. .

This annual march ostensibly commemorates the deaths of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, leaders of Germany’s early 20th-century communist movement. Both were instrumental in the Spartacist Uprising of January 1919, a failed attempt to overthrow the Weimar Republic and impose a Soviet-style dictatorship in Germany.

The march also commemorates Lenin, whose October Revolution of 1917 toppled Russia’s democratic provisional government and established the Soviet Union.

Lenin’s influence on Luxemburg and Liebknecht cannot be overstated. His ruthless approach to achieving and maintaining power shaped the ideology they sought to impose on Germany, emphasizing violent revolution and the eradication of democratic institutions.

The growing cooperation between communists and Muslims, a partnership known as the Red-Green Alliance, share a mutual enemy: the free world.

In the heart of Bucharest, tens of thousands of Romanians poured into the streets, waving their national flags and demanding justice.

These protests, largely ignored by most EU-controlled media, expose a deep fissure in Europe’s democratic fabric. At the center of the controversy lies the annulment of Romania’s presidential election—a decision that many are calling a blatant coup d’état orchestrated by globalist forces to suppress nationalist voices critical of the EU and NATO.

Călin Georgescu, a candidate who openly opposed Romania’s subservience to the EU and NATO, shocked the establishment when he won the first round of the presidential election

Georgescu’s rise was a nightmare for Brussels elites. On December 6, 2024, Romania’s Constitutional Court annulled the entire election, citing unsubstantiated allegations of “bots” and “social media manipulation.

The annulment is not about fairness; it’s about control. The EU, NATO, and their Romanian puppets did what they do best— manipulate, intimidate, and ultimately dismantle the democratic process.

Why is it that tens of thousands—or perhaps over 100,000—patriotic Romanians protesting in Bucharest barely registered in Western media?

On social media, however, videos of the protests have gone viral, showing a sea of Romanian flags and banners reading “Democracy is not optional”.

The annulment of the election sets a dangerous precedent.  “We did it in Romania, and of course, we will have to do it in Germany if necessary”, former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton declared.

The EU has abandoned any pretense of being a guardian of democracy and is rapidly transforming into an authoritarian force.

In a chilling move that reads like a page from Orwell’s 1984, the European Union is formalizing its role as a gatekeeper of information with the creation of an “Information Sharing and Analysis Center” under the European External Action Service (EEAS).

The declared purpose? To combat so-called “disinformation” campaigns from foreign actors like Russia and China.

It is a brazen attempt by the EU’s globalist elite to control opposition to narratives, silence dissent, and reshape public opinion to align with their own agenda.

From rising inflation and energy crises to public discontent over Ukraine policies, blaming “foreign manipulation” conveniently shifts accountability away from Brussels.

By framing the “struggle for narrative” as an ongoing battle, the EU justifies ever-expanding surveillance and regulation of online platforms and pressuring companies like Twitter to align with its goals.

This centralization of control over digital spaces threatens to erode the freedoms of expression and access to diverse viewpoints.

The establishment of this so-called Ministry of Truth marks a terrifying escalation in the EU’s war on free speech. It exposes the globalist agenda for what it truly is: a coordinated effort to centralize power, suppress dissent, and control the narrative at all costs.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to ban transgender students from girls and women’s sports in schools — an escalation of anti-trans lawmaking in advance of the Republicans’ rapidly approaching moment of control of every branch of the federal government.

Among the extreme anti-trans commentary that Republicans shared on the House floor, was explicitly religion-based opposition to trans people and statements amounting to denying the existence of trans people altogether.

House vote makes clear just how difficult the path ahead could be for queer people.

The deceptively short bill would subject trans kids to nationwide discrimination in law and could upend girls’ sports across the country.

Republicans repeatedly referenced their new favorite meaningless phrase, "extreme gender ideology”, and pointed to conservative courts’ rejection of the Biden administration’s Title IX sex discrimination rule that included transgender protections, as well as Donald Trump’s win, as evidence that voters support the bill.

All the literary world now discusses recent dark revelations on sexual life of famous ‘dark fantasy’ author Neil Gaiman, a ‘male feminist’ and a Leftist darling.

Neil Gaiman is a typical example of a ‘progressive sexual predator’ (like Canadian Justin Trudeau and even Harvey Weinstein for that matter who also was a Leftist before dark truth on him was revealed and sparkled such an outrage that it gave birth to controversial #MeToo movement).

Neil Gaiman is a famous fiction writer who came to prominence back in 90s as an author of series of graphic novels The Sandman where Gaiman craftily blends together myths and legends of different cultures and creates his own mythos.

Later Gaiman had written few novels (some of them were considered novels for children like Coraline or The Graveyard Book which now looks a bit disturbing considering recent sexual allegations against Gaiman), some of which were adapted to screen (like Stardust or American Gods most notably).

Back in 90s Gaiman collaborated with a famous British author Terry Pratchett to write Good Omens which was also adapted to screen.

He adopted very progressive Leftist and feminist views long before it became mainstream, and he wasn’t shy to state his views in his writing (for example, his The Sandman contains lesbian and even trans characters).

Later, Gaiman had rewritten famous fairy-tales Sleeping Beauty and Snow White from the point of view of the Evil Queen (The Sleeper and the Spindle). All of that gave Gaiman a reputation not just of an imaginative author but of a progressive thinker and male feminist.

What was more disturbing, Gaiman incorporated even bestiality and necrophilia

Neil Gaiman’s sexual perversion was on full display in his writing all along.

Long New York Magazine article tells of such ‘sweet’ details as Neil Gaiman facefucking his nanny in his own home with his kids in the next room, and forcing this nanny to eat vomit from his lap.

Another article says that at least one of the women whom Gaiman, a married family man with three kids by the way, had fucked in such an ugly way, claims that this was non-consensual.

Gaiman’s wife Amanda Palmer was complicit, by the way, offering her friend for her middle-aged husband to fuck.

I argue that there is a pattern among so-called progressive male feminists most of whom turn out to be sexual predators and abusers.

Sadly, this strategy works very successfully in our twisted Woke society.

The catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires that have reduced entire neighborhoods to piles of ash are estimated to have caused damages and economic losses between a staggering $250 billion and $275 billion.

The deadly wildfires, which have torched more than 40,000 acres (62.5 square miles, nearly three times the size of Manhattan Island) and destroyed over 12,000 structures, is now one of the costliest natural disasters in US history.

“Hurricane-force winds sent flames ripping through neighborhoods filled with multimillion-dollar homes,” AccuWeather chief meteorologist Jonathan Porter said, “The devastation left behind is heartbreaking”.

“The recovery process will be extremely expensive and emotionally challenging in the months and years to come”, he added.

We had a fire today”

In the wake of the devastating fires in Los Angeles, many people are referencing the work of the science fiction writer Octavia Butler

Her book “Parable of the Sower”, published in 1993, paints a picture of a California ravished by the effects of climate change, income inequality, political divisiveness and centers on a young woman struggling to find faith and the community to build a new future.

In one of the last interviews before she died in 2006, Butler spoke to Democracy Now!, an independent news organization, about how she’d been worried about how climate could devastate California .

“I wrote the two ‘Parable’ books back in the ’90s,” she said, referring to “Parable of the Sower” and her 1998 follow-up, “Parable of the Talents.” These books, she explained, were about what happens when “we don’t trouble to correct some of the problems we are brewing for ourselves right now. Global warming is one of those problems”.

Which worries you more: Minors’ access to online pornography or government censorship of the internet?

Free Speech Coalition marks a challenge to a Texas statute that compels certain pornographic websites to verify that users are over the age of 18. It applies only to sites on which “more than one-third” of content “is sexual material harmful to minors”, targeting major companies like PornHub.

Nearly half the states have enacted these laws. The basic idea is the same: Every user has to prove their age before accessing explicit material, usually by presenting a government-issued ID through an age-verification tool.

As soon as Derek Shaffer began arguing for the adult film industry, the conservative justices accused him of underestimating the danger and ubiquity of internet porn today.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett told Shaffer: “Kids can get online porn through gaming systems, tablets, phones, computers”. There has been an “explosion of addiction to online porn”. Clearly, she posited, relying on parents to “filter” explicit content “isn’t working”. Justice Samuel Alito agreed. “We’ve had many years of experience with it”.

Technological access to pornography has exploded”, Chief Justice John Roberts opined, adding that “the nature of the pornography has also changed”.

Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson shared that concern, and it’s a weighty one: If the court slackens First Amendment standards for internet pornography, it will inevitably reduce protections for speech that it holds in higher esteem.

In the haunting Canadian courtroom drama, icy protagonist Kelly-Anne (Juliette Gariépy) looks at people with the same withdrawn, mysterious gaze that she brings to her computer screen.

Which lies in front of it — a disturbing murder case, whose every aspect she seeks out — transforms her into an embodiment of the modern true crime cottage industry that spans podcasts and documentary films.

The lurid details are unraveled gradually, each an enticement — we’re given a sense of what she sees in Chevalier’s trial, and why she independently scours the web’s darkest corners for more information.

As the film proceeds, Kelly-Anne turns them into fictional characters in her own mental true crime opera, reflecting the ways in which real people’s lives are often reduced by the genre for the purpose of entertainment.

In the process of trying to discern Kelly-Anne’s motives, we become her cheerleaders.

We become the rabid true crime audience, whose concerns lie not with the victims, but with a third party whose emotional investment is the central dramatic engine.

A symbiotic relationship refracts true crime through a prism... in order to investigate how and why something as disquieting as death (the more disturbed, the better) has come to take on such commercialized and voyeuristic forms in the age of new media and the internet.

The serotonin hypothesis—the idea that low serotonin is the predominant cause of depression—“forms the principal justification for the use of antidepressants”.

A systematic review of meta-studies on the relationship between serotonin and depression determined from all relevant published studies that “there is no evidence of a connection between reduced serotonin levels of activity and depression”.

As well, there is “little evidence that antidepressants have substantially greater effects in people with more severe depression.”

Professor of psychiatry at University College London and author of "The Myth of the Chemical Cure", Moncrieff began work as a medical researcher, then as a junior doctor and psychiatrist in the UK’s National Health Service when a series of rolling scandals over barbiturates, then benzodiazepines, followed by opioids fostered deep-seated skepticism about drug-centered treatment, including its adverse and potential long-term harms.

Published in Molecular Psychiatry and read by more than one million, the review attracted international coverage, sent shockwaves through academic psychiatry, and caused something of a furor over SSRI and SNRI antidepressants.

The majority of clinics and institutes continued to promote the chemical imbalance hypothesis without regard.

Moncrieff asks with disarming bluntness: “What are we to make of the fact that antidepressants, among the most commonly used drugs of modern times, have not been convincingly shown to be beneficial, either in the short term or the long term?”.

The “chemical imbalance” metaphor has served several interests, one of them to delay professional reckoning over the evidence itself.

The process of medicalization only makes things worse. It gives people false hope and leads to the over-prescription of potentially harmful drugs that, at best, offer ways to stifle uncomfortable feelings”.
